What can I do to help amphibians?
Amphibians really do need our help, and there are lots of things anyone can do—big or small—that make a difference.
🏡 At Home
Keep it clean: Don’t dump chemicals, soaps, or trash outside where it can wash into streams and ponds.
Garden safely: Use fewer pesticides and fertilizers. Amphibians absorb these through their skin.
Make habitat: Build a small pond or leave damp, shady spots in your yard where frogs and toads can live.
🌍 In Your Community
Protect wetlands and forests: Support local parks, wildlife areas, and conservation groups.
Don’t move animals: Never take wild amphibians home as pets, and don’t release pet frogs or fish into the wild.
Join citizen science: Help track frog calls, salamander migrations, or tadpole counts in your area.
🧑🤝🧑 Personal Choices
Drive carefully: Watch out for frogs and toads crossing the road, especially on rainy nights.
Learn and share: Teach others why amphibians are important and why they need help.
Support conservation: Donate or volunteer with groups that protect amphibians and their habitats.
✨ Fun Fact!
In spring, some communities even set up “toad tunnels” or close roads at night so frogs and toads can cross safely during migration!
